REHAB SERVICES

COTA- Per Diem Days

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be a graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program with an Associates Degree in Occupational Therapy; must be currently certified to practice in New York State; must have 2 years experience and a desire to work with the geriatric population is preferred.

GENERAL OBJECTIVES:

The Occupational Therapist Assistant is specially trained and certified in the provision of occupational therapy procedures and modalities. Excluding Occupational Therapy evaluations, the assistant provides a full continuum of resident care within the scope of the Occupational Therapy practice act. The assistant is an integral member of the resident care team and is expected to actively contribute to the clinical as well as philosophical development of the department.

FOOD AND NUTRITION

Nutritional Aide- Per Diem

Shift: Varies, to include rotating weekends & Holidays

GENERAL OBJECTIVES:

To engage in service and sanitation activities related to food service for resident, patient, staff, volunteers and special functions in accordance with established norms for job performance, productivity, safety and sanitation

Serving cafeteria guests, Assist Resident Tray Line, Sanitation of kitchen areas, disposal of garbage and receptacles.

The candidate must possess 2+years’ experience, preferably in a healthcare setting.

As required by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The Candidate will be required to:

a)                   to be able to walk about

b)                   to be able to climb stairs

c)                   to be able to carry approximately 5-10 lbs.  (documents)

d)                   must possess visual and auditory acuity with or without assistive/corrective devices

e)                   must exhibit the ability to communicate (transmit and receive) verbal and written information in an effective time efficient manner

f)                    must exhibit the physical ability to provide the full scope of required job tasks. This includes but is not limited to lifting, prolonged sitting and repetitive movements

g)                   must demonstrate the ability to comprehend verbal and written instructions and follow through with logical plan and course of action must demonstrate the ability to perform assigned tasks independent without the need for constant re-direction

Volunteer Opportunities

VOLUNTEERING:  

OUR WONDERFUL VOLUNTEERS “MAKE A DIFFERENCE”

A Volunteer at Island can work in a variety of roles, and we will work together to find the match that’s just right for you. Some of the opportunities that are available are:

  • Assisting Therapeutic Recreation during activities including socials, special events, sports and of course- Bingo.
  • Assisting Therapeutic Recreation on Community Outings to such locations as Atlantis Marine World, Applebee’s and the Movies!
  • Escorting residents to and from Therapeutic Recreation activities, Rehabilitation and the Beauty Parlor.
  • Visiting residents one-on-one for social companionship where you can chat, assist with letter writing, reminisce, do manicures with the ladies and so much more!
  • Clerical and administrative roles are available as well.

  • Provide a copy of immunization.
  • Provide a copy of a PPD (can be done at your Physician’s office),
