NURSING OPPORTUNITIES- 

RN Charge Nurse

Full time – Evening 3-11:15 pm

QUALIFICATIONS:

 The Charge Nurse must possess a degree as a Registered Professional Nurse from an accredited college of school of nursing. Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred. Must possess a current New York State license as Registered Professional Nurse.  Must possess at least two years of clinical nursing experience and an additional one year geriatric experience is strongly preferred.

 

GENERAL OBJECTIVES:

The primary function of your job position is to control unit operations and carry out any special tasks in the realm of your capabilities as directed by the Nurse Unit Manager.  Every effort has been made to make your job description as complete as possible. However, it in no way states or implies that these are the only duties you will be required to perform.  The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or is a logical assignment to the position and is within your scope of practice.  The Charge Nurse will also be cross-trained to perform Admission Nurse and Supervision duties also as noted to be within their scope of practice.

 

RN Night Supervisor

Part Time -11:00 pm-7:00 am

QUALIFICATIONS:

Licensed in the State of New York as a Registered Professional Nurse.  Demonstrates Leadership & Management ability in nursing practice in a Long Term and Rehab facility for a minimum of three years.  Must have training in rehabilitation and restorative nursing practices. Supervise the day-to-day nursing activities of the facility during your Tour of duty. You are the delegated administrative authority, with responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned duties while covering the house.

Must be able to bend, turn, push, pull and lift up to 50 lbs without restrictions or limitations. Prolonged, extensive or considerable standing/walking, lifting, positioning, pushing, transferring patients, considerable reaching, stooping and bending.

Registered Professional Nurse- STAFF/FLOOR:

Part Time- Days- 7:00 am-3:15 pm

Part Time- Evening 3-11:115 pm & Nights-11:00 pm-7:15 am

Per Diem- Every other weekend Evenings 3-11:15 pm and Nights 11pm-7:15am

QUALIFICATIONS:

The “Staff” Registered Professional Nurse must possess a current NYS license in good standing with a degree from an accredited school of nursing or college.  The Registered Professional Nurse (Staff/Floor)  must possess 1-2 years of clinical nursing experience in acute and/or sub-acute setting with one year geriatric experience strongly preferred.

GENERAL OBJECTIVES:

The RN Staff (Floor) Nurse Performs tasks and responsibilities under the direction of Charge Nurse/ Nursing Unit Manager or Nursing Supervisor.  The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related or is a logical assignment to the position.  The Staff RN delivers care that maintains dignity/self-worth of the individuals that is consistent with the philosophy of the Nursing Department.  The Staff RN is expected to demonstrate the ability to work well with others with professionalism at all times.The RN Staff (Floor) Nurse will be cross-trained to perform, Admissions Charge Nurse and Supervision duties as noted to be within their scope of practice.

Must be able to bend, turn, push, pull and lift up to 50 lbs without restrictions or limitations. Prolonged, extensive or considerable standing/walking, lifting, positioning, pushing, transferring patients, considerable reaching, stooping and bending.

Licensed Practical Nurses Positions:

LPN’s- Full Time/ Part Time All Shifts

LPN’s- Per Diem/All Shifts

QUALIFICATIONS: Licensed in the State of New York as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing. Two years of clinical experience in a long-term care setting preferred. Must also possess and maintain all necessary certifications for CPR/BLS, and other required Nursing in-services as required by this Facility.

GENERAL OBJECTIVES:  Performs tasks and responsibilities within established guidelines, under the direction of a Registered Professional Nurse. Delivers care that maintains the dignity and self-worth of the individual that is consistent with the philosophy of the Nursing Department. Demonstrates the ability to work effectively with others.

Must be able to bend, turn, push, pull and lift up to 50 lbs without restrictions or limitations. Prolonged, extensive or considerable standing/walking, lifting, positioning, pushing, transferring patients, considerable reaching, stooping and bending.

Certified Nursing Assistants:  

Positions:

Full & Part Time- All Shifts

Per Diem- All Positions/All Shifts.

Must possess current NYS certification. Prior experience in similar setting preferred.  Will train right candidate.

QUALIFICATIONS:  Certified as a Nursing Assistant in New York State.  A High School graduate or equivalency. H.S. Diploma preferred. Previous experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant in a Long Term Residential Care Facility strongly preferred.   Must submit to Criminal History Records Check (CHRC) as per federal regulations.

GENERAL OBJECTIVES:  The Certified Nursing Assistant provides quality care to residents in compliance philosophies, objectives and established policies and procedures of the facility.  The Certified Nursing Assistant assists residents in a maximum potential for self-care and level of independence.  They ensure that residents/patients are comfortable, safe and maintain good hygiene and personal cleanliness.

REHAB SERVICES

COTA- Per Diem Days

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be a graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program with an Associates Degree in Occupational Therapy; must be currently certified to practice in New York State; must have 2 years experience and a desire to work with the geriatric population is preferred.

GENERAL OBJECTIVES:

The Occupational Therapist Assistant is specially trained and certified in the provision of occupational therapy procedures and modalities. Excluding Occupational Therapy evaluations, the assistant provides a full continuum of resident care within the scope of the Occupational Therapy practice act. The assistant is an integral member of the resident care team and is expected to actively contribute to the clinical as well as philosophical development of the department.

Must be able to bend, turn, push, pull and lift up to 50 lbs without restrictions or limitations. Prolonged, extensive or considerable standing/walking, lifting, positioning, pushing, transferring patients, considerable reaching, stooping and bending.

 

Part Time Administrative Assistant/Rehab Services

QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidate must be a High School Graduate. Must possess good typing and computer skills with one to three years experience in a similar setting preferred. Candidate must possess proficiency of computer programs such as word, access, excel.  Must be able to type 35-45wpm. Must be able to handle heavy phones, multi-task, self-directed and able to work without direct supervision. Must possess excellent interpersonal skills & problem solve efficiently & accurately. Ability to read, write and speak English.

GENERAL OBJECTIVES:

Assist the Director of Rehab Services in staffing schedules, phones, appointments and MDS entries, etc. Coordinates all HMO/Private Pay correspondence and documentation. Must be dependable. Must perform all filing, alphabetizing and typing, answering phones, and general clerical responsibilities.  Competency for thinning charts and knowledge of determining which paperwork from patient’s medical record can be relocated to the medical records department. Must be able to assist the Director of Rehab Services as needed in preparation for annual survey. May be required to transport patients on an as needed basis.

 Part time-  22.5hours weekly/flexible

Volunteer Opportunities

VOLUNTEERING:  

OUR WONDERFUL VOLUNTEERS “MAKE A DIFFERENCE”

A Volunteer at Island can work in a variety of roles, and we will work together to find the match that’s just right for you. Some of the opportunities that are available are:

  • Assisting Therapeutic Recreation during activities including socials, special events, sports and of course- Bingo.
  • Assisting Therapeutic Recreation on Community Outings to such locations as Atlantis Marine World, Applebee’s and the Movies!
  • Escorting residents to and from Therapeutic Recreation activities, Rehabilitation and the Beauty Parlor.
  • Visiting residents one-on-one for social companionship where you can chat, assist with letter writing, reminisce, do manicures with the ladies and so much more!
  • Clerical and administrative roles are available as well.

Volunteers must:

  • Be over the age of 12.
  • Complete a health assessment form.
  • Provide a copy of immunization.
  • Provide a copy of a PPD (can be done at your Physician’s office),
