ISLAND NURSING AND REHAB CENTER OFFERS LIVE WEBCAM CONFERENCING FOR FAMILIES TO VISIT WITH RELATIVES ON THE INTERNET
— First Nursing Home on Long Island to Provide this Technological Service —
Island Nursing and Rehab Center has announced it is offering a new interactive program which aims to link its residents more closely to their families/friends, by means of web-based internet technology. Suggested by a resident’s family, the concept seeks to connect residents to family and friends that live far away.
Live webcam conferencing is based on both the facility and the family having a webcam camera as part of their computer system. Residents at the facility can see and talk to their relatives – live – through their computer screens and a microphone on the computer.
David Fridkin, Administrator/CEO, states, “in order to participate in this unique and fulfilling experience, the family needs a webcam along with a software program installed on their computer so that they may communicate with residents here at Island Nursing and Rehab Center.”
Mr. Fridkin adds, “We feel it is extremely important for residents to stay in touch with their loved ones and this offers a wonderful opportunity to do so. We believe Island Nursing and Rehab Center is the first nursing facility on Long Island to provide this type of service.”
